Clun Fire Station

A community fire station within the Shropshire Hills

The project involved a 50% extension to increase the total floor area to 152m2 and a complete external remodel of the existing fire station, which included an external covered canopy for future firefighting appliances and trucks.

The fire service brief was to provide a modern and contemporary fire station to accommodate staff with community facilities that included a lecture room/kitchen and use of two toilets off the main entrance.

The building draws upon the vocabulary of local rural designs to provide a building sympathetic to its rural context with a distinct contemporary quality.  The materials pallet is coloured render and black profiled aluminium cladding, which echoes the render and black stained timber cladding traditionally found in Clun.
